12 January 2016 (New Beginning)

I started this blog on January 13, 2013. It’s purely coincidental that it’s almost exactly 3 years to the day that I’m re-inventing this site.

This blog began as Dear You, a collection of letters, pictures, and drawings that I would post on a daily basis as a little challenge to myself. I made it 63 days in a row before I failed to post an entry and thus ended my quest. After that, I started up my own personal site (kellyceline.com) and didn’t look back. Until now, of course.

You’ll notice that the site’s URL has been changed to baseballdrawings.wordpress.com if you glance up at the address bar. That’s what this blog is now going to be about: my baseball Hall of Fame portraits. I post them on Tumblr, but I know not everyone uses that site. I don’t have a dedicated Twitter or Facebook account for this project, so I figured I’d use this old blog to document my efforts.

For now, my old posts will mostly remain up. I may need the space in my media gallery in the future (I size down my portraits but there are going to be a LOT of them and that can clog up my allotted file space on here pretty quickly). I’ll make those decisions as it becomes necessary. The look of the blog might change a little from time to time. I love change. It can be a problem sometimes.

Why am I not posting this on my personal site? Good question. I use that really as a portfolio more than anything. Eventually, when this project is completed, I’ll put it all together and create a space for it on my website. But for the day-to-day kind of things, I’d rather separate this from my personal site. Here, I can post every single day and not fill up my site. I know, it’s a little weird to have the two different places. But I also find it’s easier to connect to the WordPress community — and the online community as a whole — through a free blog than it is when  you have a private site.

Anyway, I’m excited to start posting my portraits and see what people think of them. Please don’t be shy; comment away or send me a private message anywhere (all my social media accounts are linked on the sidebar) or fill out the form on my contact page. I’m always happy to answer questions or get feedback. If there’s a particular portrait you’d like to use on your blog/site/whatever, PLEASE contact me first. I’m thrilled when people want to share my work, but I just need a heads-up first. I will be putting obnoxious watermarks on all my pieces which is a bummer, but it’s the only way to prevent people from stealing my work without even acknowledging my efforts.

I guess that’s it for now. Hope you stick around for the journey!

23 February 2014

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve started writing in the blog that I set up on my site (located here). A couple of my friends asked if there was a way to follow my blog with their regular WordPress account, which I always just assumed you could do the same as if you were following this blog. After doing some research, I’ve got the answer for those of you who wish to start following my other blog with your WordPress account so that it shows up in your reader:

You can, but it’s a little different. Here’s a little help in doing so:

1. Go to your Reader section of WordPress. Here is where you find all the entries from the blogs you follow. On the right, you’ll see “Blogs I Follow” and the “Edit” button next to it. Click that.

2. It’ll bring up a text box above the list of blogs you follow. Type the URL of my blog into it  — kellyceline.com/blog — and then click “Follow” next to it.

Done! Now, my posts will show up in your reader as if it were a regular WordPress.com account. 🙂
